Letter from the winemaker - December 2013

Published on Monday, June 23, 2014 to 14h21

The Sancerre enjoyed a warm, beautiful August and after the work in the vineyards slows down now, our employees deserve a little break before the harvest and we have time to take a look back at the year :

Due to a particularly cool and rainy June, the flower of the vine has occurred slowly and irregular, which affected low quantities.

After a picture-perfect summer with a lot of sunshine, we hope now to bring the crop in with a perfect balance of ripe, concentrated flavours and optimum quality in late September. In the cellar, after a very good sale at the export markets and due to our private customers who visit the domaine, our stocks of the Sancerre Tradition 2011 vintage range are very low. For our high-end cuvee Maxime Blanc and Rouge 2010, we end the selling and will be starting with the 2011 vintage by the end of the year.

The Maxime, crafted from the best vineyards, shows now, after one year of breeding in small barrels, a wonderful and unique taste. We hope that some of these beautiful bottles will also find their way in your private cellar one day.

In this sense, we wish you enjoyable hours with the unique taste of our wines from the privileged terroirs of Sancerre…

Your winemaker,

Jean-Yves Delaporte
